Moving to Minnesota
by HappyDad inyou probably think i need mental counseling but i am moving from southwest florida to minnesota.
i was just there last week in the -29 degree weather to close on a house i bought in oakdale, minnesota.
being a florida resident for 5 years has taught me that it is no longer the paradise that people think it is.

Shunning Hath Begunith
by Solzhenitsyn inmy spouse assumed that being honest would feel liberating.
appointments were made with pimi parents to let them know of the decision to no longer be a jw.
before the tall nonfat latte at starbucks was half drunk and after her parents asked several direct questions, they stood up, hugged her and said "well this is goodbye, return to jehovah and we'll pick up right where we left off, we love you," and walked out the door.

How many times has this sad story been told? I truly had what this organization has done to the thousands of families all over this world.

Also 52 years ago on January 7, 1967. I was 17 years old. This was old for an almost born in. And I have been out for over 17 years.
Though PO and MO however the mental contamination will take a full life time to get rid of.

Dilemma of Shunning Policy
by Drearyweather inapologies if this topic has been discussed earlier.. i was thinking of whether demanding for a ban on shunning policy would be beneficial for the larger society.
following are some things that we need to remember while advocating the issue:.
1. shunning is not limited to jw's and for many americans, it is not that controversial as it seems.. 2. jw shunning is not a dark secret policy.

An interesting thread but let's get real.
Shunning is a part of life.
Everyone shuns.
You shun restaurants you don't like a long with TV programs and a thousand other things you don't like.
Yes, and you even shun people you don't like..... JWs or not.
They say the only real power you have in life is "personal boycott"
Guess what another name for that is.....SHUNNING!

What Are Your Rights?
by Simon inrights seem to be everywhere nowadays.
say hello to someone in the wrong way and you've violated 101 of their human rights.
people imagine they have the right to all sorts of things - food, healthcare, housing, internet ... so many things are labelled basic rights and then you get onto their human rights - a favourite of the do-nothing bodies such as the un to declare.

Yes, George Carlin had this one right.
There is no such thing as "rights."
As he said, there is only "temporary privileges"
They can't be "rights" if they can be taken away.
Any government including this one can take them away at a drop of the hat....or presidential degree.
Oh, and lets not forget something called "Marshall law" what are your rights then?
Temporary privileges is what we are enjoying now......they will never be rights.

Have you ever wondered why there are no Amalekites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites today?
Yes. the happy god decided to wipe them all out.
That why if you notice I never use a large "G" as in God I always use a small g because of all the gods and lords this guy is one of the smallest in my book.

The Society is Blocking Research On their Web Site
by new boy init seems, you can not research many of the older publications on society's web site anymore.
for the obvious reasons, that they don't want people to go back and read about all the false prophecies, changing guide lines (new light that became old light that became new light once again) and the just plain stupid stuff they have said over the years.
i not quit sure what publications they have blocked.

Any help would be much appreciated...... thank you.

How Religious Fundamentalism Hijacks The Brain- Psychology Today
by Brokeback Watchtower inhttps://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/mind-in-the-machine/201810/how-religious-fundamentalism-hijacks-the-brain.
in moderation, religious and spiritual practices can be great for a person’s life and mental well-being.
but religious fundamentalism—which refers to the belief in the absolute authority of a religious text or leaders—is almost never good for an individual.

I have very deeply looked into the endless destruction and genocide that religious ideologies and dogma have inflicted upon human beings. I have seen how damaged human souls are, how deeply depressive, meaningless, and prone to exploitation are the lives that many live. Religious dogma is at the root of this epidemic meaninglessness. Behind that is the thirst and cry for love. ----Mark Seelig
